Have you spent weeks touring PAF air bases and speaking with air chief? If so please enlighten me if not Alan Warnes has
So what, I believe online forum over him? No thanks
Yea, I have toured PAF bases and I did get a confirmation (from within the PAF) around 6 hours after the engagement, confirming we used Vipers. But that's not the point, because we have
verifiable facts in this case. The Indians released pictures of a recovered AMRAAM, with a serial number delivered to Pakistan, proving Viper involvement:
Here's that DoD contract with that serial number:
As for Alan Warnes, he's not the only defense source with credibility. A much more credible source on the PAF is former Wing Commander Kaiser Tufail, who has commented in the
regarding this issue. The context of the article is denying Indian claims that the AMRAAM proves the IAF shot down a Viper. Notice that Tufail never denies we used Vipers, but in fact says that the AMRAAM wreckage only proves that Vipers were doing the shooting. Even an IAF source admits the recovered AMRAAM struck its target.
Like I said, even the ISPR isn't denying we used Vipers anymore. The last statement they made said we have the right to use anything we want (i.e. Vipers) to defend our air space. This statement came after the US had told India that Pakistan was not in violation of our defense contract. All of this indicates the initial denial of using Vipers was political, and it is a moot point anyway since the AMRAAM recovery.
