I am so annoyed JF17 Block III has been delayed till 2021

production won't start till end of next year

some one should be help responsible for this

I am so angry right now :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

50 units built in 3 years all advantage has been lost !!!!!!!!

Empathy is warranted, though one ought to keep in mind that at the time when Imran Khan took office, Pakistan required $12 billion in order to avoid default on its debt. Such was the recklessness of the previous government. And even though the $12 billion has nothing to do with JF-17 Thunder's Block-lll development (since budgetary allocations were already earmarked for all the branches of the military), the military has shown some caution in the wake of the country's fiscal limitations.

Again, this does not affect the Thunder program. It is more than likely, that there are some changes/alterations being incorporated into the Block-llls. This block of Thunders will give Pakistan Air Force a phenomenal capability, in comparison to its current capability. And we shouldn't be so quick to forget how the program had resolved a major hurdle at the start of the program, when the then ACM Mushaf Ali Mir, de-coupled Thunder's avionics package from the aircraft's development. This helped the program move forward without a hitch and allow Pakistan Air Force to start inducting Thunders at a decent pace. Aside from sounding optimistic, it is clear that Block-lll Thunders would be definitively a big step forward in terms of capabilities. Particularly when the possibility of acquiring J-10Cs is all but shut down and the likelihood of acquiring Block-52 Vipers is out of our reach. Pakistan Air Force has decisively taken the decision to forge ahead with Thunders. It is because the next big ticket item for Pakistan Air Force (in 10-12 year's time) will be Gen-5 Stealth Fighters. Wait for it brother, it's more than likely that none of us would be disappointed with the Block-lll Thunders, in-sha-Allah.

Perfectly normal for new aircraft to take 1-2 years to enter service, even for a relatively fast-paced project like JF-17.

Production slated for end of 2019 means that first flight & prototype rollout would have to be very soon.

Yes, & reportedly better than F-16.

No, surely not and even if others claim so. I spoke with several former MiG-21 pilots esp about the Zhuhai display. Yes, it was nice but never ever comparable to a F-16.

What do MiG-21 pilots know about this? Did you speak to any PAF pilots who flew both?

Disagree with this Deino. I can not give any references because JF-17's energy curves are not in public domain. But this has been reported a few times based on conversations with PAF pilots. I am basing my opinion partly on credibility of posters who reported this. Also, JF-17 is less draggy - so it seems plausible.

The JF17 has only ever been reported as comparable or equivalent to the F16 in certain flight regimes. I have yet to see a single official report or claim that states the JF17 is kinetically suprerior to the F16.

I don’t think people should get overly disappointed or discouraged by that, since the F16 is pretty much the king of the sustained turning game for single engined fighters, and outright outperforming the F16 was never a design requirement for the JF17 given the weight and cost difference between them.
