Not sure where in this image you can see " Mig 21 wingroots" ???
Hi,
That was in response to @Pmichael 's post---where he mentioned the JF17's wingroots to be similar to the Mig21

We've been in fantasy land ever-since you've been making unsubstantiated claims about its super cruise load and this thing that you posted takes us right into the bowels to Narnia. I asked for a source for your claim and you provide a fantasy brochure that claims that the Gripen is the most advanced fighter on the planet? Reeeeaaalllllyyyy??? Do they think that 5th gen fighters are from Mars? Based on that opening statement, you could deduce that you can save your time and not read the rest of it. I search for super-cruise and found that it claims that Gripen can super-cruise at Mach 1.1 for an unspecified duration and distance with an unspecified payload. Having trouble backing your statements, eh?We are entering fantasy land again.

The rest is also quite meaningful when the block III hasn't even seen its first flight.
In some aspects Gripen E very well may end up being one, when it'll enter service.Reeeeaaalllllyyyy??? Do they think that 5th gen fighters are from Mars?
For the majority of the updated 4th gen fighters today, we can pick at least some aspects where it rivals or exceeds a 5th gen rival so I don't think that's really meaningful. In some aspects Gripen E very well may end up being one, when it'll enter service.
It's normal for a plane which in many aspects was made anew. Some of them can be conceptual(since we don't design the whole plane from scratch - design cycle will be faster, and more recent ideascsn be put to use), some - purely technical, based on known competences of producers involved.
For example, Gripen individual EW suite is quite likely to end up being the best in many specs.
Overall - well, of course no(F-35 is here and this is it).
Hi with all these goodies how much will it cost ?Disclaimer: it's answer to the question(why expensive)and nothing more than that.
Well,
GaN- based EW suite (first ever), first AESA radar with additional mechanical scan in form of a rotating swashplate(GaAs- though), active decoys(BriteCloud) + all other parts of EW suite are at least at a forefront(towed decoy and so on), 5th gen level information exchange capability(Sweden is one of pioneers in this regard).
Other electronic elements of fighter were brought to competitive standart(say, Raven ES-05 isn't exactly best, but it's a solid 2015-2020 tech station with a cool feature mentioned above), +best a2a missile choice currently available on market(Meteor+IRIS-T). Last part isn't unique to it, though.
In addition it got somewhat more fuel, additional weapon stations, new man-machine interface, IRST and new engine to not make it fly worse than before.
Ultimately, it remains very small, and this still is an important advantage for years to come.
$85 mill is the lowest number I got but from the Brazilian deal, it was $5.4 billion for 36. Reportedly, it would have been 1 billion cheaper had the Brazilians not had special requests. The support package was $9 billion (numbers off Wiki). So if we're just talking jets, we might get $4.4 billion over 36, which is $122 mill a pop.Hi with all these goodies how much will it cost ?
Thx
