As has been discussed earlier regarding lack of a suitable targeting pod for JF-17:

He said his visit to Paris was in part aimed at assessing from French officials the prospects of supplying the Thales-made Damocles, a third-generation targeting pod. He said that was Islamabad's priority for now.

Now total 4 squadron of PAF has been equipped with JF-17 and recent squadron replaces F-7

Hi,
There is some drama involved regarding the targeting pods----if the posters might remember---the earlier JF17's were touted for ground strike missions and not BVR capable----.
Basically all the BLK 1's were ground strike aircraft. There was a targetting pod used---was it the WMD7 or what----so it may not have been as good as the damocles or the american----but it did work---.
In car talk---it is like saying---I only want an Audi S4---the Audi A4 is worthless----so what is the paf going to do---if it does not get the S4---going to walk or what.

I was wondering about that. Thanks for clearing it up. In any case, I am not sure if PAF would go for Damocles. They probably just want to make a point with the French, post-MMRCA fiasco. Pakistanis at least keep their word once they commit.
A question does arise though. We do know that JF-17 participated in operations against terrorists. We can not be sure about the extent or effectiveness of the effort by JF-17. Is this mystery kept on purpose, or does the JF-17 WMD-7 combo not quite work as well as it was expected?
I do not want any classified information, but how would you speculate?
@MastanKhan JF-17's are already equipped with targeting pod. They are carrying out regular missions in NWA including precision strikes during night.
