A few years ago the Chinese just started with avionics. It maybe tells you that China offers better and better and maybe even the best. Certainly the price, quality, reliability to deliver is a selling point. If Pakistan opts for Chinese products then there is more then this or that. If you go for e.q. French parts then start testing and even then you can do not much then pay big price like 15 million per aircraft. No TOT and chance that opponent gets the same. So, before making fun of posters maybe there something behind the developments.

I agree with you, Chinese avionics have come a long way in the past few years. I didn't mean to make fun of any posters on this forum and I apologize if I seemed a bit mean spirited there. All our Pakistani posters I find a polite, well-informed and helpful. I was just poking fun at some other forums where, indeed, I personal found their attitude towards Chinese sourced avionics and weapons system, somewhat confoundedly condescending but in no way did I mean to insult any poster here and if I have irked you somewhat Munir, I once again apologize. :)

Well Semi, you have to look at it from the pov of the Pakistanis as well. The perception of chinese systems being so so, is based on historical precedent. Every system we have ever sourced from China has at first had it's guts ripped out, examined and then the components were either replaced with western analouges or suggestions for improvments were made or the systems were modified inhouse. Knowing some people in the PAF since childhood I've heard many first hand accounts of the above happening. So you cannot lay the blame squarely on the shoulders of those posters as the perception was moulded by precedent. In Pakistan, made in China untill recently used to stand for well cheap disposable stuff.
Even though I am one of the people who questioned going for another supply source when the chinese avionics were just fine, I knew the subconcious or concious raision de tere behind such moves. Even now, such an integration would bring more flexibility in export options.

We're friends. No problemo. Sorry if if I sounded not friendly.

I am glad Pakistan opted for Chinese avionics and weapons only. You just cannot trust other suppliers. France boycotted openly the Mirages 5 in case of Israel but in reality they gave everything for free and one could see Nesher and Kfir.. US gave them the engine and some avionics. In the past the French asked impossible prizes for the most simple parts for Pakistani Mirages. I am glad they are no longer going to be part of the PAF. Like China (and India) Pakistan moves towards developing and improving technology. One should move away from the strings from many western nations. I see great future for Chinese products.

And now you can see the result of France's price gouging for support and parts. It has earned them a poor reputation internationally and now that nobody is willing to risk getting the Rafale. Even the Brazilian deal is on shaky ground now over issues of technology transfer.

I remember that a few months ago Alan Warnes wrote in his worldfamous AirforcesMonthly that the French take their customers for granted. They even were that stupid that they wanted to sell Algeria choppers with Israeli parts... Well, as a regular visitor of the Le Bourget happening I agree that the French are arrogant and will not get any customer unless they change their attitude. They lost several deals in the arab world cause they wanted to sell more... Like Saudia had to buy tnaks and ships... Well... They can have their Rafale cause no one is going to pay for it. I hope Bazil goes for something else...

I am so glad that Pakistan will replace its Mirages with JF17. I had hope that India would give them a finger when they asked inflated prices for upgrading decades old Mirage 2000H. India has so many options. It should have dumped the Mirage. With MKI who needs that?

Its a shame that there is so much political interference and over political multi-system 'packages' with France's military export deals, the Mirage 2000 is a beautiful plane and its performance is excellent but the operating costs are astronomical.

I think after such a huge economic loss from the lack of Rafale sales may have finally woken them up and are being more upfront with issues such cooperation and technological transfer but the offer IMO is still lagging behind Saab's offer though.

It Is Firm: Pakistan Will Equip 250 JF-17's With Chinese Sub Systems.
