You must be dreaming....

GE F404 or F414 engines and M-88-3 engines are all western engines.

Western countries currently ban all their military sales to China.

Pakistan and Egypt have no experience and the necessary facilities to do the engine accomodation of different types. Even the K-8 which Pakistan requested for American honeywell engines to be used, had to go thru engine swap and testing in China. American only allow the honeywell engine to be send to China becos K-8 persist no threat as trainer.

Only China is capable of replacing a new type of engine on FC-1. Russia and Westen countries are out of question for the job.

So, only WS-13 and RD-93, all other's are out of question and will probably wait too long.

yet,I know, most western countries will never export there engine to china, one option is that the aircraft be assemble in egypt.
or china has emgergency plan or alternative option, like new engine, under this circumtance, China may have to accerelate the development of new engine.

may be it could be oppurtunity to interview and hear there comment on russia decision to bar export of jet engine, and possible any alternative engine ? my belief is that country suchas egypt and possible pakistan may opt for GE-F=414 engine or even M-88-3 engine.

You can't stick any engine you want into an aircraft, the different dimensions and weight of the new engine would completely throw off the aerodynamic performance of the aircraft and would take months, if not years of additional testing and frame modification to accommodate engines with such different dimensions

From recent news, the best bet shall be WS-13. Heard it has gone thru many critical test and is currenlty being tested on frame itself.

Btw, China don't seems very concern on FC-1. With J-10 available for export. China has better option available since FWS-10A problems seems to have solve with more and more J-11B flying in FWS-10. In a very short time, J-10 will be equipped with domestic engines.

They export the engines to China, they will be in the Chinese market and make money in the future. Otherwise, China doesn't need them. China will make better engines. There were no big Chinese companies 30 years ago. Now 3 out of the top five banks in the world are Chinese. Because of China, Walmart is the No.1 company in sales in the world. There was no single private car in 1980. Now China is the biggest auto market in the world. Please watch CCTV Children programs. The Chinese Cartons are much better than those Hollywood's today. When the Chinese woke up and put the money into researches, the world will see the changes of the ball games. That is why the United States put too much dirt on China. If Chinese fight among themselves, the United States will always be the No. 1. China is not being pulled by the West. It is the time for China to rewrite the rules of the games.

What a beauty...except for the engine exhaust ;)

Curiously, where would the exported ones be built, CAC or PAC?

Anyone?

I am pretty sure that the engine nozzle will contract and look "prettier" once the plane starts flying at high speeds. As for where the exported ones will be built I believe that Pakistan secured production rights in 2009 or earlier and have already started producing their own FC-1s. Given the fact that PLAAF has yet to order JF-17s I believe that Pakistan will produce most of the planes until other nations start ordering it.
