....It is as Jeff said, far to early to call the F-35 a lemon
It's to early to claim a cause. And rather Disgusting to jump out a claim of "Lemon" by critics.
To date this is only the second F35 crash ever. The safety record on this bird has been pretty good.
Aen Terran.
Nearly flawless. There was a B model crash last October, and an engine fire in an A the year before. The Japan crash figures the least on the charts, as there was a single fighter had a flawless track record before hand.
Just for the sake of the record.
Otherwise totally agree.
Much of the abuse the F35 takes is as the program is very open the issues get reported in an echo chamber.
The Russians and Chinese don't report on their fighters unless they want propaganda points.
The US government has reported and armed critics like @Jura with their best points of attack. Which should show you how open the program is.
But those don't make a lemon just a procurement program that has issues.. A cost overrun doesn't knock fighters from the sky and delays are mostly the result of fixing issues or overruns. Interesting sustainment is because the system they aimed to develop was obsolete before it was ready for service and over ambitious to begin with. Again typical of military IT procurement.egregious delays, cost overruns, "interesting" sustainment
