They could use an F-35 like nozzle, but for the Japanese the X-2 will be a counterpart to F-22.

Long way to go. Its still only a demonstrator.

Wonder whether US will lift the F-22 embargo for Japan.

You do know the US has already shut down the F-22 production line in December 2011, right?

JMSDF Appointed the First Female Officer to Command a Destroyer

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) appointed Commander Miho Otani as the commanding officer aboard Asagiri-class destroyer Yamagiri (DD-152) on 29 February 2016. Cmdr. Otani becomes the first woman to command a major surface combatant ship in the JMSDF.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) delivered the "Jinryu" submarine to the Japanese Ministry of Defense (MOD) today in a ceremony held at the MHI Kobe Shipyard & Machinery Works' No.3 pier in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. The Jinryu is the seventh Soryu-class submarine supplied to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), and the fourth built by MHI. MHI also built the first Soryu-class submarine, and has produced a total of 26 submarines at the MHI Kobe Shipyard over the last 70 years.

Homeported to Kure, the 5th, 2 others to Yokosuka normaly for the first time since long time in addtion of 11 Oyashio ( 5 Kure/6 Yokosuka ) and 1 Harushio AIP ( Kure ) then now have 19 SSK the more old get only 19 years ! and plans for going up to 22.
