missiles deployed on those islands can be taken out easily, they are not going to stop the PLA navy.

just like Sadam before the gulf war, Abe thinks he is safe, he may not realize that China can take him out anytime if it wants .

Yes, if really he get 32 cell's but armed with only 16 missiles in fact.

Other thing but close several European class of ships have additional space, planned,
reserved for eventually to be armed with more missiles, Horizon 16, Daring also, De Zeven Provincien 8.

But it is really a matter for this topic ;)

Not as easily as you might imagine.

With air cover, at sea protection, and air defense systems, they would be a tougher nut to crack than you might imagine.

But let's notclutter up this thread with such nationalistic chest thumping.

This is not a PRC vs Japan thread. Please do not help start it in that direction. Direct conflict discussions like that violate SD rules.

Probably best not to talk about direct scenarios of conflict. In fact I'm pretty sure they're against forum rules.

militarily the "string of pearls" has little value, you got nowhere to hide, let alone depth, you can only put targets on those islands & islets.

Looks like the moved all the PARS up to the main mast/bridge, instead of having the rear housing the aft facing radars. Other than that, it looks very similarly armed and laid out.
Also the change into the Akizuki design are funnels placed in the centerline axis of the ship which I assume was the effect of placing all the panels in the main superstructure (reducing the interference of hot fumes). It probably also caused that the front panels will be located lower than those in the aft part of the superstructure similar to Burke class.
