Re: Japan to mull pre-emptive strike ability

Consider most Hong Konger I see on facebook welcomes the fake news of US invasion and how they like to wave their colonial flag, I would not be surprised if Hong Kongers side with Japan. Those that board Diaoyutai is just a minority of Patriots in a city full of traitors.

Do not confuse people's discontent with daily issues in the city state as a sign of their loyalty. HK was as much a victim of Japanese aggression in WW2. Sarcasm at the heavy handedness from Beijing is not the same as joining Japan in a war. Beijing needs to learn and understand more about treating its people better to reduce all these grievances. But I'll leave it at that because we're getting way OT.

That's a reach. However I do think there is a significant segment of the Hong Kong population who are at least mainland China bashers mainly because they have a colonial subject mentality (similar to a slave or guilded cage mentality) bred with selfishness and prejudice which they rely on as both psychological crutch and PR excuse to feel special instead of adapting to new realities. It is inconceivable though that they would truly welcome or support an actual invasion, they are more cynically politically neutral more than anything else.

If we're talking about a military conflict between China and Japan, it doesn't matter how many people in HK side with Japan, US, or China. They are inconsequential.

Well this is a long walk in the woods without any trail of breadcrumbs!

I think everybody needs to get back on track and return strictly to topic.
You all know what happens if you do not!

I don't know much about the politics and grievances in Hong Kong, but the last thing a country should do is to blame the population, or a part of the population, for disloyalty for its own failings of doing a better job of solving the grievances at hand. That is as long as people are protesting peacefully and through the right channels.

Japan's government may have some internal reasons to keep up with hot rhetoric with China , but they certainly don't have any rational reason to push the issue to actual shooting incidents .

Chinese plane was flying in international airspace and certainly had the right to do so . On the other hand , Japan has the right to scramble its fighters and to investigate the contact , just like NATO regularly investigates Russian bombers flying near its airspace and vice versa .That's about it . At the present moment both sides would be hurt badly in hypothetical conflict (Japan more than China) so I don't think actual orders to open fire would be issued to any of the respective countries armed forces .
