I understand that.

I was referring to the picture comparing the IWB of J-20 and J-35. If it's same size as J-20 with no side bays, then thats 2 less A2A missiles it can carry in stealth mode.

No one said J-35 is the same size as J-20. What we are saying is that the J-35 may have the same ventral IWB size as that or J-20's ventral IWB.
However, as an aircraft of course J-35 is smaller and lighter.

Just an interesting tidbit.

Ayi saying the J-35 is a step above the J-20 in terms of stealth.

Why would we believe this guy?

just in terms of ew & power you can carry on j20 vs j35, j20 should have an advantage there. The new j20a should also not have any disadvantage in production precision & material science against j35.

That is pretty much a given. STEM is always moving forward. The J-35/31 is smaller, so less surface area means less imperfections, and consequently, a lower RCS. There is no reason not to assume the PLA is constantly making advances in the design department such as in the case of generative designing, AI, RCS analyzing algorithms, better supercomputers, discovering more exceptionally talented people. They also probably made breakthroughs in manufacturing techniques to help achieve lower tolerances, increase composite strength and make new alloys, better riveting techniques, better RAM coating techniques that may or may not be inheritable by the J-20 etc.. All of which can potentially aid in producing a fighter jet that would have a lower RCS than the J-20. The lack of ventral fins and landing gear fairings such as the ones on the J-20, will definitely result in a lower RCS on the J-35/31.

It is smaller and does not have canards. But the biggest deal will be replacing the J-15. Which was now obsolete 1990s level technology.
Personally I don't see it replacing the J-15. The're both pretty different planes with different capabilities. The J-15 acts more like a Naval Missile truck while the J-35 is a stealth fighter. Adding onto this, from what I remember it that the J-15 has been upgraded several times such as the radars, avionics, etc. In my view they complement each other.
