J-35 carrier fighter (PLAN) thread

How is everyone doing? I have a basic question. Since FC-31/J-35 does not have side weapon bays, does it mean it will not carry short range AAM such as PL-10? Or it needs to go through the same trouble as F-35: to do lock-on-after-launch, must have new software update and new missile AIM-9X-2. I am not too sure how well these LOAL AAMs will work in a real fight. After the missile is ejected, while it starts ignition and target acquisition, a lot of things could have changed.

The same question exists for all stealth jets without side bays, including the new Turkish, Korean, and Indian 5th gen fighters, even for Su-57 as well.

I think some of the possible solutions include: LOAL like F35 ; exteriorly carrying heatseekers on a “stealth” pylon, again like F35; and using bvraam as a sort of close-range defense weapon, an idea that has been tossed around for a while. Of course there are other solutions and I guess we’ll know what the J35 would use when they publicize it.

It will carry on wingtips. When mounted in this fashion the damage to RCS is actually less than commonly assumed.

Most of our (US) F-35's have AIM-9X's on the wingtip in our air superiority load outs. However, when we run "slick" (more for A2g missions) we don't run them externally.

The added RCS of the AIM-9X's are actually very minimal since they point them outwards and potentially treat them too.

I would imagine the J-31 can do the same and mount PL-10s externally too.

”Well, this time is the real photos, not models, not PS."

But it looks compressed like wide Putin walk.

The perspective makes it look really *funny*.

It looks like the nose is pointing 90 degrees perpendicular to the right from the camera but the rest of the body is pointing towards us and to the right at an angle.

Anyone feel like the nose looks kind of strange?

I feel like there was another blur applied to the nose thats not the square mosaic blur used for the background.

If you zoom in, I feel like there's a rough vertical line division between the nose and the rest of the body.

I feel like the nose and cockpit section is compressed laterally, making for a weird look. Will try to do a little photoshopping to see if this is actually the case
