J-35 carrier fighter (PLAN) thread

Just because it is a generic looking "modern fighter" cockpit that isn't J-20, doesn't necessarily mean it's for J-35/XY.

We've seen multiple such cockpit renditions at Zhuhai and other tradeshows before, as just general technology displays.
It doesn't necessarily mean they are the actual representative cockpit of an actual aircraft.
So I wouldn't get too excited.

Besides it's not like the J-XY/35 cockpit will be anything that's too new.
We know it has a wide angle lightweight HUD, and will almost definitely have a wide area display, and maybe a smaller display beneath it as well. There's only so many ways to arrange it.

Chances are none of these displays are actually for J-XY/35 -- but at the same time, the J-XY/35 cockpit will likely look very similar to it.
Most probably just a generic mock up, but at least an idea of how the cockpit is. And as I say, the shape of the cockpit panel is very similar to the one of the prototypes photos

As I said, all modern new cockpits look similar in the general sense.

It is better for us to actively avoid referencing those cockpits shown at airshows because chances are they are not the exact real J-XY/35 cockpit, only "similar" in the same way that they are "similar" to J-20's cockpit.

Three J-35 variants confirmed (carrier based, Air Force, export?).
When exactly in the video? I thought everything in his speech are existing information that we have already know. Previously was “1 aircraft 4 types” now is “1 aircraft 3 types”.
He did mentioned about “carrier based” and “for export” specifically, I think we can assume that’s a land based version, but that’s it, because I don’t think any foreign buyer is going to demand a career based aircraft …

What is role of J-31 air force variant vs j-20? Assuming J-31 air exists.
Based on the funding and development processes, it’s more or less like jh-7 program once again, where plaaf wasn’t interested at first place but later saw it shined in planaf, so they bought even more jh-7 than planaf

so I think, since plaaf has j-20 already, so they has the luxury to wait and see how j-35 performs in the navy, and value how much a role can it take in plaaf

Using the same layout between J-20 and J-XY/35 would be nice for training and pilots interoperability. Pilot could be trained for both aircrafts quite easily. You can also use the same simulator with just a change of a startup config between the two aircrafts.

Within the context of the video, I think he did speak of three variants that include navy/carrier-based, air force/land-based and export.

Frankly, I don't see how export version can be considered as a variant. It's not like you're going to build an aircraft with a different airframe, even though the avionics may well be different. If you insist on three variants, then carrier-based/land-based/twin-seat ones make more sense. In fact, I would name the export version as J-31E or something like it, to indicate the connection with the domestic version to give potential clients more confidence.

Export approved avionics and networking and RAM and perhaps being tailored to a customer, imo, would all be very reasonable definitions for an export "variant" even if it is structurally identical to the air force variant.

Literally says Zhuhai 2022 in the background.
