What is the advantage of blocking the rear view though.

Probably equipment and/or fuel is there.
And if you won't get a full view - normal skins are both lighter, cheaper, and simpler to produce.

In addition, it isn't like glassing has reduced - more like it moved forward. Better view forward downwards at the expense of the rear one.
Very good tradeoff for a multirole aircraft.

I love it that we, finally, have a Chinese fighter without those god forsaken ventral strakes!!!

well... to be honest, J-20 is using a tiny fully movable vertical tails, so that ventral strakes is completely necessary to compensate the instability, especially given J-20 has no TVC at the moment.

Also, the j-20 in primer photos suggest that the ventral strake is mostly made by composite materials, so it shouldn't have significant impact on the RCS as most people belived

The secrecy and the drip feeding I fully understand and endorse even -- but the lack of image alignment just seems a bit gratuitous

A bit closer, perhaps. As every subsequent prototype may have some refinements. But time schedule wise, it's too early for this airframe to be a pre-serial, near mass production standard one.

We don't know if the pictures depict "two units" (two airframes) -- it could be just different pictures of the same single airframe.
It could also be the same prototype we saw pictures of that first flew mid/late last year.

We also don't know how recent these pictures actually are. They could have been taken months ago but only released now.

However, even with the initial pictures of the first unpainted J-XY/35 prototype from last year (below) -- we could see that it was fitted with certain features that makes it seem closer to a near-standard prototype rather than a technology demonstrator.

From this first original clear image below, IMO it was sufficient for us to determine that it was probably closer to the 201X series of prototypes for J-20, rather than the 200X series of tech demonstrators for J-20.

He wasn't asking about the hump per se, he asked why it wasn't made transparent. Which is a very good question.
