I think that F-22 style 2-d nozzles are out of question. Adds too much weight to the plane and reduces thrust. Americans can afford the luxury since they've got the best engines in the world.

Hmm and what about 3D -- we've all heard how j-20 will have Russian style nozzles, wouldn't that be both more complicated and perhaps heavier than 2d?
I suppose the thrust decrease from rectangular nozzles would be too great :/

That's hard to say. Unless someone repeats what Airpower Australia did, and do some simulation to compare the configuration with and the configuration without ventral fins, there's no way to know.

I have said that 2D nozzles won't be found on the aircraft about a year before the J-20 came out. People didn't want to believe me back then and argued with me how J-20 would use 2-D nozzles.
What kind of nozzles do you think the final production model would end up using?
Was that based on per word insider info or your own logical deduction?

2D nozzles don't necessarily have to be rectangular. They could be lighter round nozzles as well.

I stand corrected. Yeah, I meant the J-20 isn't going to have rectangular nozzles.
