True, but wouldn't it be harder for the drone operator to keep track of the target bogey if he doesn't have live real time 360 degree view of the fight vs. the enemy pilot cockpit? I mean the drone operator is looking at several LED screen doesn't compensate for the feel of the fight.

You are indeed quite right here, any simulator will give you the opportunity to fly from the R/C or drone operator configuration, and yes you not only have limited perspective, you have "NO" biofeedback from the aircraft itself, the "seat of the pants" aspect is missing, you can't feel the vibration, control sensitivity, hear the airflow over the aircraft. My old Daddy in what was likely the only time he could have been accused of being a poet said to me as I was attempting to learn to fly our old 172 made this point. Some days when your in the airplane all you feel is the control yoke in your hand, other days you feel yourself all the way from wingtip to wingtip! When you become the flying machine, when you can feel the airflow over your own wings and tail, when as you approach the stall and the airframe begins to buffet, and the empennage starts to shiver and quiver, when you don't have to look at the ball to know your skidding the aircraft, thats when you are flying, and no control room on the ground is "ever" going to give you that feeling!

I mentioned it somewhere before in this forum where I read that the Pentagon had shelved $3 billion on further development and upgrades in drones simply because they found they weren't much better than the old U2s. I think that tells a lot on capabilities and limitations in drone technology in general. What people are told seems more about getting funding for such programs than about the reality.

Yes sir, I absolutely agree!

More "higher ups" are visiting the CAC recently. Rumour has it that the second J-20 prototype may come out soon.

J-20 officially mentioned on CCTV 4. We now know that the first prototype finished assembly in October 2010.

Looks like J-20 is the official designation for the aircraft. The paintwork is actually not black (it is dark green).

Sad about what looks like the same engine nozzles. Happy that it (Might) be a new prototype.

So this is supposedly the one with the avionics installed right?

Looks like my prediction of J-20 induction date is getting some steam.. If the new or 2nd prototype come out in june or before. Most likely they are stepping into high gear for testing of J-20. Operation date of J-20 (Year 2013-2014) is still highly possible.

Even the the 2nd prototype may still retain round nozzle. Very high chances, it is WS-15 debuting.
