The J-20's two all moving canted tail stabilizers also function as elevators besides of functioning as rudders. This together with the canards provide more flexibilty in terms of interaction between the control surfaces.

I can't wait until the US or Europe upgrade or develop a plane with all moving canted tails, that way the Chinese can say for a change that the West "copied" or "stole" something from them :), although I bet the Western media will probably say "borrow" instead, since its a much nicer sounding word with almost the same meaning as "copy" or "steal" in the context they use when describing China "borrowing" aspects of Western design.

The US already made an all moving tail it is called SR-71 and other is F-117, Russia is T-50

Did China have one of the above indicated airplanes to copy?

look it is pointless the argument, my point was. all moving rudders are old, the 1964 Sr-71 used them。 F-117 did use them and it is a 1981 jet, so it is not something new, it is as old as blackbird

Well, the US isn't using them the way the Chinese are using them (otherwise they'd have put them on the F-35), so they'd be "copying" how the J-20 "works" if they ever decide to incorporate all moving canted tails in the future.

Mig is right on this one, doesn't do any good to argue gentlemen, we all know who got what from who. Whether you thought of it, you bought it, or you "borrowed it", we're all on here because this is our thing, there are a lot of bright guys on here. I hope all of us are smart enough to recognize that mutual respect and strength have kept the world from doing something stupid for the last half century of so. As a brother, I think we all need to try to educate the ignorant around us, so they don't do something stupid and kill us all. Now back to the J-20 I'm seeing lots of my preconceived notions changing. Its interesting when you see an airplane in this developmental stage that engineers/designers have had the opportunity to go "grocery shopping" on design features. I am amazed at how similar these airplanes are, now that I've been further educated how close the are in weight and overall performance, and looking at paintguns pics how close the fuselages are in shape and function. They all have a modular appearance, maybe just a function of the cad/cam age? Brat

the YF-23 has all moving tails

The americans know the advantages already of all moving vertical tails as the conventional tails, they started with A-12, F-117, YF-23 but settled on F-22 for hinged rudder tails
