That's all fine and nice, except the J-7 and Mig-21 aren't listed with the same lengths, and the length of the J-7 itself is different with different variants.

Why don't you just use the JF-17?

MiG-21F13=J-7 same fuselage, same engine

The fuselage is the same the probe is different, some have lower probe

That ignores the bigger issue. There are discrepancies within the listed length of the J-7 in the sites you provided, in addition to discrepancies between the J-7 and the mig-21. Besides, differences in pitot length and tail length could all be factors. The better question is why not just use the JF-17. That length would seem a bit more certain?

J-10 is 16.43 (

), and the J-7G is 14.885 (
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
) according to that paper, so the question is, 14.885 is with or without the tube.....

JF-17 is ~14m (

). There is a variance though -

. At most ~15m (49ft) with the tube.

EDIT : Ok, the 14.885 for J-7 seems to be WITH the pitot tube, at least going by this site :

The problem with using the J-10 is we don't know what the J-10B's length is.

EDIT: Though there is one way to verify the length of the J-7 though. We can use the JF-17's length as a reference (assuming that we know what that one actually is as well).

J-10B is actually slightly longer than the J-10A... We can't use the wikpedia number for it.

Does the 14.88 meter come out right when you estimate the length of the JF-17?

The value 14.885m shows up for the J-7 both officially an unofficially. Question was whether it was with or without the tube. Now I believe it is with the pitot tube.

When it come to the JF-17 OFFICIALLY there are 2 values for its length

But as a safety precaution, i guess one could use 14.25m w/o the tube for the JF-17
