I kind of wonder if Minnie Chan swung from fantasies of dismal failure to fantasies of astounding success in her PLA coverage as a response to the changing political headwinds in HK….Oh no ... not yet again!
Her fantasy is indeed interesting, we have just a handful of images suggesting a TVC nozzle is under test, some sources claim it is a WS-10B-3 others it is the WS-15, but she spins yet another story ...
- China will start upgrading the engines of its most advanced stealth fighter jet, the J-20, this year ...
- The performance of the fighter, also known as the Mighty Dragon, had been limited because it has been using a stopgap engine, the WS-10C ...
- These are now being fitted with new thrust-vectoring nozzles ...
- A source familiar with the engine development programme said all WS-10C engines fitted to J-20s will be given thrust vectoring capabilities this year.
I think this is enough fantasy for this evening
What are the flaps inside the engine for?Self-explanatory.
Interesting how the flaps (and ailerons, too) are in different positions on the left and right wing. My guess is that this is related to how the hydraulic system is designed, like how the F-14 would have one nozzle at full contraction and the other at full expansion when powered down. But that's just my guess =)Self-explanatory.
Electrical actuators sometimes still use hydraulics in the actuation. It’s just that they actuate based on an electrical signal rather than an analog pneumatic mechanism.I thought j-20 used electrical instead of hydraulic actuation of flight control surfaces?
