@The Observer

This is new to me. Do you mean this? Do you have a photo or video from an angle closer to the axis?

I see the outside differences, but can't be sure of the inner details with this resolution.

@Bltizo thoughts?

Hmm?! ... interesting, but in fact nothing special and in terms of aerobatics - as expected - far from dramatic or even spectacular.
IMO very similar to the display from 2018.

Also, at least I see nothing from what to conclude an "excellent climb and fast lateral turn" or if the new engines "feel a bit stronger than the previous engines".

PLAAF confirms what we already knew, that J20s are now equipped with domestic engines.

I think for them, this constitutes a meaningful revelation to the general public.

For us, I think the only reasonable reaction is:

That said, it is good to have confirmation that is indisputable straight from the horse's mouth.

Yes sometimes just a simple official confirmation of what we already knew has some significance in and of itself.

Well they show it in flesh showing vertical barreling
Official announcement! The J-20 makes its debut with a domestically-made engine! Multiple actions fully demonstrate your flying ability! 20210928 | Army fan world.

The main content of this program: At the Air Force press conference of the 13th China Air Show, the J-20 flight display commander Li Jikuan introduced that the J-20 participated in this air show with new equipment, new formations, and new attitudes. This is also the J-20. After installing a domestic engine, it was publicly displayed for the first time. In the flight demonstration, multiple actions fully demonstrated the J-20's excellent low-altitude, high-speed, small-radius turning and high-angle-of-attack flying capabilities.

The maneuvers are the same except for fast rolls during a vertical climb, yes, but they are completed much quicker and there is less “down time” for the plane to recover energy between the maneuvers. It took the J-20 around 26 seconds to completed a circle of sustained turning in 2018 but took around 20 seconds to do the same with WS-10C engines this year.

Does everyone consider the maneuvers to be unspectacular as long as they are not poststall now???
