Wouldn't the same issues (primarily mechanical) that plagued the Swing wing generation 30 years ago be reintroduced with the concept of this J20 variant studied ?
Why not work on removing control surfaces altogether by introducing electrical,thermal based actuation other novel ideas.
Plasma actuation, enhanced Thrust Vectoring radius, Wing Circulation control etc ?
All the above requires a competent engine and enhanced electrical power output though.

Yes, why don't we protect our 6th gens with forcefields as well?

The question with novel approaches is always whether they can generate enough force compared to the mechanical mechanisms they’re replacing.
I don't think these images are J-20 simulator, as they are all center stick. since these pictures are in Dingxin, and with such a big screen, I assume they all J-16 simulatorsJ-20 pilot training. You can catch a glimpse of the simulator cockpit in the first image, but I'm not sure if it accurately represents the real thing.
