There're now 2 brigades in the WTC which is converting/has converted to J-20, with said brigade rumored to be the 98th. Posted by Jer Lynn on Facebook.

me again and I think this is old and in the end wrong.
If I remember correctly then it was already posted some time back and indeed initially it was thought, the 98th would convert, however in the end the 97th became the second J-20 unit within the WTC.

The PLA Eastern Theater Command pushed out a post on Weibo declaring that, among other features, the J-20 can "easily reach supersonic speeds during cruise."

I assume this confirms WS-15-equipped J-20s are fully operational and in volume production? Are WS-15 J-20s still J-20Bs?

Nope. It was known for several years that the WS-10C enabled supersonic cruise for the J-20.

The WS-15 will presumably allow the J-20 to reach and maintain supersonic speed without ever using the afterburner.

It's questionable whether or not the WS-10C can do that. Some people suspect the WS-10C needs to first use the afterburner to reach supersonic speed, and only then can it cruise at supersonic speed without afterburner.

The quote you posted leaves some room for interpretation.

I think it is just a mistake made by the editors of "东部战区融媒体中心". They just don't know what 4S is and think it is the super-maneuverability that helps the j20 to cruise supersonically. After all, they are not experts.
