They said it is a new type of missile can fit 6 in the belly bay replace 4xPL-15 configuration.
And it's already in service no longer in testing phase.
So it has to be a medium range missile.
Don't know it's a folding wing version of PL-15 or something else. "New" could be anything in this context.

I interpreted it as being something related to the PL-15 because they were mentioning it in the context of only fitting 4 in the bay, but I could be totally wrong.

I thought the interesting thing is Yankee said J-20 were involved in 4th of August snap exercise around Taiwan. Even to today ROCMND have not reported any J-20 in ADIZ. As Ayi pointed out if you ever spot a lone YY-20 hanging around in the ADIZ there's potential there that's actually a YY-20 supporting J-20 sorties.

Female ROCAF pilot vows to shoot down J-20 without hesitation if commanding officer dared to give order.

J-20A will get further electronics and avionics upgrade along with WS-15.. that's insane
Do keep in mind that as per the words of Wanghai Brigade commander, they’ve always had the upper hand in confrontations against foreign planes and they’ve done that with the most backwards J-20 in PLAAF service. Take a moment and

On a serious note I am reminded of this from another Wanghai Brigade pilot earlier this year:

J-20 pilot Wei Xin, who recently participated in an intercept, gives brief overview on J-20's greatest advantage. Since it can't be seen on enemy radar the J-20 could leverage its offensive capabilities and add enormous psychological pressure on the opponent and cause them to scramble to avoid the unseen threat. They'll retreat while the J-20 advances.

P.S. sounds like it is something he experienced in a practical setting first hand. As I've stated before, even older variants are now using the retractable lunesburg lens, which makes for interesting tactical considerations.
In the same interview Wei explicitly stated that he participated in a recent interception of intruding foreign asset. Now I am almost certain that he experienced those things against a foreign adversary.

Yes. They scrambled six J-20s to gangbang the intruder from multiple directions. Poor bloke turned tails and ran. Really shocking how well integrated KJ-500/Ground based radar is with fighter aircraft and how capable the J-20 is in terms of readiness.
They should have chased after him. Be pretty funny when he realise he can't outrun the J-20s and they are just gonna fly beside him, buddy-to-buddy the whole way home.

Maybe it's 5 PL-12s /j

Or maybe.... Even the PL-21?

In the face of aircraft lacking radar stealth capabilities, it is quite commonplace for 5th-generation fighters to have an advantage.

Considering that production version of WS-15 J-20 is not that far from, I wonder if they will go straight from Russian powered J-20 to Ws-15 instead of WS-10C ones.

It is all but confirmed at this point. The 9th has historically been the first to receive top of the line equipment. First to receive flankers, first to receive J-20. Only appropriate for them to go to J-20A directly since they are good at figuring things out and developing new tactics for new equipment.

If you have carefully read descriptions on places like airforcemag, you will actually find that the U.S. Air Force is more inclined to use this situation to push Congress for the approval of the update services for early warning aircraft. This is because they emphasize the connection between the KJ-500 early warning aircraft and the J-20. They aim to achieve a specific goal by retiring the aging E-3 series and instead procuring the updated E-7 with modernized software and electronic equipment. Their level of attention to the J-20 is not very high; both the F-35 and F-22 have more extensive upgrade projects, including this year's decision on the contractor for the NGAD.
