Have you been able to identify what engines are used?
Unfortunately no.
I saw the 3rd one landing when I have half mile left to ride~ It's a little bit too far.
But I saw a J-10C landing over my head and post photos to cjdby, some netizens recognized it should be WS-10.

I guess those J-20s using WS-10 sawtooth nozzle. People post high definition of full body shot of the same J-10C photo on twitter soon. But till now I see no one post the same of those J-20s, it makes no sense to hide if they are still using AL31F.

No F-35, But a Real Killer: Don't Underestimate China's J-20 Stealth Fighter
Just because it isn't as powerful as an F-22 or F-35, doesn't mean it isn't a tough plane.

Key Point: The J-20 stealth fighter is a design success and is a large boost to China's already growing military power.
China's J-20 stealth fighter was a disappointment at the 2018 edition of the country's annual air show in Zhuhai in southern China.
Three of the twin-engine warplanes put on what one reporter called a "

" aerial display lacking quick turns and other high-energy maneuvers.
Likewise, it was apparent that the J-20s at Zhuhai didn't feature the latest, Chinese-made WS-15 engine, and instead were still flying with older, Russian-made AL-31 engines.
But fighter type's unimpressive air-show performance probably is not indicative of its usefulness in combat, nor the transformation of Chinese air power that it's helping to propel.

The J-20

that circulated on-line in late 2011, surprising foreign observers and even some military officials who assumed Beijing would need more time to complete a true stealth fighter.

A low-observable warplane design requires precise shaping and hard-to-manufacture radar-absorbing materials. Mastering those qualities is expensive and time-consuming. Before the J-20 finally entered front-line service in September 2017, only the United States was capable of designing, building and operating stealth fighters..... to read more

but within another article it points out stealth technology.

Coming Soon: Super Stealth Chinese Fighter Jets?
Key point: Beijing's advances are real, but not necessarily revolutionary.

Chinese scientists claim they have developed a new kind of material for making aircraft less detectable by radar.

But the development probably is not the breakthrough that some observers claim it is.

Prof. Luo Xiangang and colleagues at the Institute of Optics and Electronics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Chengdu, said they had created the first-ever mathematical model to precisely describe the behavior of electromagnetic waves when they “strike a piece of metal engraved with microscopic patterns,”

South China Morning Post.

The newspaper cited a statement Luo’s team posted on the academy’s website on July 15, 2019.

“With their new model and breakthroughs in materials fabrication, they developed a membrane, known as a ‘metasurface,’ which can absorb radar waves in the widest spectrum yet reported,” South China Morning Post reported.

At present, stealth aircraft mainly rely on special geometry – their body shape – to deflect radar signals, but those designs can affect aerodynamic performance. They also use radar absorbing paint, which has a high density but only works against a limited frequency spectrum.

In one test, the new technology cut the strength of a reflected radar signal – measured in decibels – by between 10 and nearly 30dB in a frequency range from 0.3 to 40 gigahertz.

A stealth technologist from Fudan University in Shanghai, who was not involved in the work, said a fighter jet or warship using the new technology could feasibly fool all military radar systems in operation today.

Luo’s claims and breathless comment on their implications do not constitute a major change in the way companies develop stealth warplanes or the military balance of power among operators of such aircraft..... to read more

So, as of now, regarding the weapons load on the J-20 stealth fighters
2 * PL -10 IR AAM
4 * PL-15 BVRAAM

Can we conclude that previous speculations regarding the main weapons bay load to be eventually 6 as just that - mere speculations ?
What progress is there on this new AAM ? Is there any active development at all ? Was that a mere wish from elated China military watchers ?

Six BVRAAM is for new AAMs. Considering the fact that the PL-15 has much farther range than any other current BVRAAMs I think the capacity is an ok trade off.

On an unrelated note, another WS-10 equipped J-20 circled Chengdu three times today, according to eye witnesses.
