Looks like the ventral fins are made from composite material.
I thought when in primer, gray areas represent sensors?
EDIT: From RADAR to AN/ALR-94 or AN/ASQ-239 equivalent.

According to the spokesman of the Chinese Air Force, the J-20 pilots began to train on the formation flight. The same pilots can also fly on the J-10C and the J-16. Very interesting information on the transformation of PLAAF.

Factory test pilots at CAC are all current military but paid by CAC. The test flight coordinator also holds a military rank but can work at both CAC and military. Will rotate between factory/design house and normal military duties.Likely what they mean is that J-20 pilots have come out of test pilot school and been flying J-10C and J-16 as well,,, its always good to expose yourself to as many different aircraft types as possible to give you a well rounded experience bank.
Test pilots encounter all sorts of weird anomalies as they bring new aircraft up to speed..
I'm NOT sure that China allows civilian test pilots or factory test pilots?? anybody know??
LockMart and others usually employ ex-Military Test pilots for factory work,, the Paris Airshow F-35A demo was flown by a LockMart pilot, after the airplane was delivered to France by Air Force Pilots.
anyway Hendrik, they are expressing that these guys can jump out of one, and into the other as a matter of routine,,,, run your respective checklists and "kick the tires and light the fires"! they are ready to rock and roll...
but not necessarily high time combat pilots, a "whole nother smoke"!

Still floored at how accurate that render was. They even nailed the tail booms (at least before those were changed for the production variant).
thanks for looking into it, but I didn't get what's the bottom line ... Yesterday at 9:51 PM he perhaps drew the J-20 too long, or his comparison is bogus, or ...?He used the wrong J-20 unfortunately.
See below for a quick PSA:
