Liming Emei WS-15 will replace Russian engines, and will power the fleet of J-20..
it is rumoured WS-15 being tested in J-20, and awaiting engine certification, before retrofitted to a fleet of J-20...

by way of background, in 2011, WS-15 underwent extensive engine testing by Shengyang Engine Institute. in 2015, a J-15 installed with a WS-15 completed validation test on vibration, and experienced some problems. actions to rectify this problem soon near completion..

Good point. Is it "Assembled" or "Produced"? Is it a locally produced WS-10B/WS-10G or locally assembled Salut variant?

The video only mentioned that the place was where j20 engine parts were "produced". Nothing else was mentioned.

An interview with Liming by CCTV4 seems to confirm that J-20's engines are assembl d domestically.

Can anyone put a summary together on what type of engine this locally manufactured engine is? As far as I see it no word mentions a WS-10X or even WS-15 by name.
I am right now in Vienna and only back on Sunday evening.

At the beginning of the documentary, it mentioned that the j20 stealth fighter's engine parts tooling and final assembly were all completed in the factory. Then the reporter followed the senior fitter to production line of WP14 Kunlun engine, which is the engine for J8. At the end of the documentary, it mentioned that china's aircraft engine industry has achieved the historic leap from 3rd gen Taihang WS10 engine to 5th gen Emei WS15 engine.

No, it's not mentioned. The last part (historic leap from 3rd gen Taihang WS10 engine to 5th gen Emei WS15 engine) might imply WS15, but can't be sure.

OT: So the WP-14 'Kunlun' has not being cancelled? It went under the RADAR for a long time.

I doubt the current version is the WS-15 Emei. Probably the modified AL-31 we've been hearing about.

You mean these reports concerning a hybrid engine mating certain parts of the WS-10 (some say the core) with proven technology of the AL-31 (like AB section) is true ?
