The reason those threads are being locked was because the thread starter copy those words from someone else without telling people it was not his own words. There will be too many threads with 2-3 sentences whenever some breaking news happen if the mods don't close them since chinese forums don't have dedicated threads for specific topics like J-20 or J-31 etc.....

The original words in the thread that was closed was written by one of FYJS's moderator IronVest who is not always reliable with his information because he is always fooling around according to people. (I don't know if that's true or not, since I don't follow them)

His words was that 2017 first flight will happen within a month, and 2017 will be the last batch to use the 4 digit numbers. Since more than one big shrimps also mentioned about 2017 first flight will happen before the year end including CJDBY's mod angadow. I think this time his information is credible.

Also according to angadow when someone ask him for some leaks, he says we will see J-20s in group pics starting in the year 2016. And there will be good news from the Y-20, and there's going to be some "eye blinding" UAV coming out by the end of 2015 or early 2016. And J-31 II or 2.0 will also be seen in 2016. The final result of which plane is the choice for the next PLAN carrier borne fighter jet will also be known by mid to end of 2016.

I absolutely concur, though I would refer to these aircraft as LRIP as they seem to have set the design, and its quite likely that these J-20 are in small batch production.

I am going to guess the front landing gear leg would be relocated to the front of the gear well to make space for a much stronger diagonal strut to the rear, that would extend all the way down to the point on gear leg where the catapult attachment point would be.

The landing gears may also be made taller to allow the aircraft to touch down at higher angle of attack.

Things most people not familiar with carrier operations would not realize intuitively.

I agree, very exciting stuff and I'm looking forward to shots of J-20 2017, in particular to compare the side bays to J-20 2016 and see if they both share the new shaping versus the earlier aircraft. Also any changes or additions to the EOTS.

On a side note thank you by78 for all of the great pictures and info from the Chinese boards which not all of us are able to fully dig into. JayBird has been another terrific poster sharing very interesting info and images - I hope he has not lost his love for SDF and returns soon!
