Lieutenant General
For 002 class, the second-generation of Chinese aircraft carrier and very likely CATOBAR, it's still going to be J-15 and its enhanced version, simply because the time frame does not allow for designing and introducing a new class of carrier-based aircraft. It is also not necessary.
Good points, however, you need to bear in mind that carriers are typically in operation for decades, and depending on just how many carriers of that class are built, it may be a decade or more between when the first ship of the class is launched and the last. Thus a key requirement for good carrier designing is to try and anticipate future needs and developments, and factor that into the design to give it growth potential and allow it to remain relevant for as long as possible.
A carrier version of the J20 won't likely be ready when 002 is first launched, but that does not mean 002 should not be designed with such a fighter and other, still in early development, assets in mind. Assets that will likely enter service en mass during the lifetime of the carrier(s) of that class.
