Hence the emphasis on sensor fusion and network integration. If you have two or three different AWACs and a bunch of escorts all lighting their sensors in different directions, it becomes harder to hide an incoming stealth fighter, since you increase your chance of beaming them at an angle where they don't have good RCS. That's the idea anyways.

true, and the opponent would use the same tactic, in the end stealth is reduced from both sides so everyone is back to the pre-stealth era. That way, stealthy aircraft reduces the effectiveness of AWAC as a force multipler without a hard-kill of AWAC. So the purpose is still served.

Actually, I was talking about what the opponents would do against the J-20, but yes, both sides would adopt this general approach. That does not mean things get reduced back to a pre stealth era though or that AWACS would suddenly become less effective. Development of countermeasures to new innovations doesn't regress methods of warfare. These things aren't linear.

i guess he isn't aware j20 with its ultra long range PL15, powerful Aesa radar and stealthy feature, its gonna detect an unstealthy AWAC first and pose a serious threat to AWAC.

That's like saying that since China has KJ-2000s, it won't have a problem facing F-22s, F-35s, and Su-50s.

I agree in principle. And I wouldn't say things go linear either, but I believe things go spiral, circling back to a point above the starting point. Same and not same.

The problem with using the E-2 as some sort of super anti-stealth detector is that it's pretty vulnerable to anti-radiation missiles.

Now a YJ-12 is primarily an AShM, but wasn't there an ARM version too?

Though a ARM version of the PL-15 with a backup digital imager would make more sense.
