It's not the CAC and the PLAAF job to keep the J-20 watchers and their fans entertained.:p;)

Actually it is, after flying the J-20 for the first time during Bob Gates visit, they built an implied desire to "show the world" China's very first 5th gen taking to the air, and the follow on prints and pressors built an audience, and no doubt Chengdu and the PLAAF enjoyed the attention, and the enhanced status that producing such an aircraft entitled them to.

to be honest it seems as if Emperor XI is relishing taking China back to the past, and back into the "outer darkness" of isolation??? In my opinion the Chinese people deserve better, I have some Chinese friends whom I have not attempted to contact, and whom I have not heard from in some time??? I am concerned about them, and concerned for their safety and their freedom, and indeed their lively hoods and lives. I don't like that type of heavy handed overlord, we have one of those over here now!

Well said Brat, especially on Emperor Xi in China and Beltway mandarins here at home.

So in the interest of getting us back on topic, the J-20 is a beautiful world class aeroplane, just as the Liaoning is a beautiful world class aircraft carrier, and Chinese citizens have a right to exercise their "God Given" rights and freedoms, and a right to express their pride and support for the J-20 and the Liaoning. I believe I have stated our current regime continues to violate the US. Constitution, and deprive US citizens of their rights.

The J-20 has made a great deal of progress, and I hope it continues to do so, but not at the expense of anyones freedom!

Does anyone suspect that 2102 is a static test article??? I really did expect the four aircraft from the previous batch, and I would assume that if all is going well we might expect another batch shortly?
Well Brat, Liaoning is indeed beautiful, but it's not "world class." The J-20, on the other hand, is beautiful and it might be world class. That is, if we could believe most of the hype. Frankly, there's little concrete evidence the J-20 is indeed world class, or not, so maybe we should hold our judgement for a spell???

Depends on your definition of world class but I do get your point. World class doesn't necessarily mean the best but that it retains the attributes to at least be in the same 'grouping' as best in class.
Liaoning after her refit IMHO would certainly be considered world within class her weight class.
J20 being a 5th gen would also be considered world class even if it's second only to the raptor by all accounts.
They would certainly qualify to be in the Olympics even if they don't make it to the podium.

Well ... for J-20, certainly would be in the final and in the podium, most likely get Silver

Some people get it wrong when it mentions world class or reach Western quality ... perhaps they meant the USA .... the USA is not only a western country ... many of those which are well below the USA in term of technologies, science, economic, politic, etc power

Exactly, the Liaoning and the J-20 are very high level efforts to "up the game" of the home team, and from all the pictures, etc., of the Liaoning she is "put together", especially for having to be "re-engineered".

The J-20 is a very nice "clean sheet" design that is a "best in class" type of effort, I wouldn't assume she is second only to the Raptor, that spot is very likely the F-35, with its "out of this world" situational awareness?? but the J-20 if parked at the Paris Airshow, next to a Raptor, would also appear to be "well put together".

I can't over emphasis that the Raptor is the product of a more prosperous, clear vision, to build the best fighter aircraft the world had/has ever seen. It is very unlikely to be duplicated by "any" of these very fine new airplanes, simply because the "vision" is fading. While China's vision is fresh and clear in regard to the J-20, the fighter world is threatened with being overcome by mediocrity!

good analoge of medals, Gold, Silver and Bronze are in the same first class unlike the ones who can not make it to the podium.
