I believe we had seen this when 2001 first came out 5 years ago, on its taxi test runs.

Actually they probably test in both. the main reason for the mount is that the Testing chamber can only simulate conditions in a landed condition. Jet fighters are built to fly as such testing on a pedestal allow simulation of near flight conditions with the aircraft sleek. and in the air at grater ranges.

I think they probably test dedicated RCS mock ups on the poles, and they test both RCS mock ups and fully fitted out actual aircraft in anechoic chambers.

Anechoic chambers do allow fighters to be raised in a "flight configuration," from what I understand.
