The J-20 first flight during Gates visit was to counter Gates contention that the Chinese 5th gen wouldn't be a factor until well after 2020, and no China does not see itself as a cat trying to scare a tiger, they see themselves as young tigers, menacing a toothless, hairless has been, or soon to be has-been, (think SCAR of the Lionking).... Xi is not overly cautious, China's recent information crackdown, and "posturing" in very close proximity to the many disputed territories is proof that your hypothesis is flawed..... for further evidence I offer the East China Sea ADIZ. Certainly an aggressive move to counter perceived Japanese stepping up, sssssooooooo, now to address your contention that no news is good news, and pictures and news of progress are bad news.

If that were the case, why is Deino so happy with the latest blurry/fuzzy, kind computer messed with images? and why do other posters also seem excited?

Well, I only started thinking photoshop after a bout of paranoia triggered by watching the series premiere of The Strain, and thinking about those CDC mishaps and that missing MH 370 flight.

It doesn't get any more real than that brother, make mine metal as well, I have a small collection of diecast miniatures, my grandkids still like to play with them, and I must confess all of mine, F-4, Su-35, F-14, F-18, F-15, F-22, yes I have two of those, have been well past Mach 1, but I have been unable to find a diecast J-15, or J-20?????
