Another Nice One ...

Now that's an interesting picture.

She seems to be folding her landing gear without the 'supposed' large serrated front doors being opened.

That suggests that 2011 and the newer models may NOT have the large forward gear doors of 2001 and 2002.

Just a guess.

large front door of mlg is very clearly opened in that image. or are you talking about something else?

That big door is there per the picture of 2011 in post #3593. Probably they now bother to close that door once the landing gear is fully deployed.

It was always like that. Only the first prototype initially didn't close the big door on MLG deployment

Right, and one of the reasons for that, is doors get hung up, get out of sequence, and the last thing you want on the prototype is to hang the gear half up, or half down, that can get ugly in a hurry, so the large main doors were left open on the initial prototype to avoid that eventuality. It would seem that door may be sequenced independently, but being left open creates a lot of drag, noise, and likely buffeting, which is a pain. While gear doors are pretty stout, most have a vne speed for lowering or raising gear, like 250 Knots to prevent damage/wonky aerodynamics.....however I would remind that the 747 that "got away" from its crew, was saved by popping the gear and flaps at very high, sub mach speeds, lots of bent metal and damage, but it saved the aircraft......
