Sometimes there are good discussions over there. Well, on secret projects at any rate. Keypub less so.

It drives me crazy. CRAZY. You'd think that even if your interests were American or Russian or whatever you'd want to get this stuff right so you don't get caught with your pants down. @#*!#*1209!@*#))(!@#!@*
Even in the Chinese BBSes there's the "oh J-20 is so big or oh J-20 has a small wing area" comments followed by whatever rationalizations the fanboys find appropriate to soothe themselves. It's like none of these guys took high school geometry and learned to take measurements! The internet is going to give me a heart attack one day.

Haha that's why I think you need to calm down and chill. Those guys already have their minds made up, and it is very hard to sway them. I do appreciate the effort you put into the calculation since they provide more than enough discriminating evidence for guys who have yet to choose a side in the debate. I sort of gave up obsessing over J-20 length/role a few months ago. We know for a fact what the PLAAF designation and design doctrine for the plane is. That is, for me, enough. I don't need to convince everybody on the internet since it isn't my obligation. If someone has his mind made up about the J-20 and size is no longer against it, they'll simply pick apart stealth, weapons, materials, and other aspects of the plane.
I'm sure you are not the first. That guy is considered unreliable even by fanboys on Keypub.
I tend to ignore JSR but I'm really tired of this size debate. If nothing else, I feel like it gets in the way of a proper discussion over the J-20's capabilities. I jump around these forums constantly in the hope that someone with proper expertise will say something insightful (like that one time Amiga was kind enough to explain some of the basic aerodynamics of different fighter designs), but I get the feeling that that's just not going to happen if every time a picture comes out the first comment is "Oh look the J-20 is so big and clunky and has such small wings good luck being maneuverable". If the J-20 must suck at maneuverability or not be that aerodynamically wonderful then so be it, but size and wing area clearly shouldn't be the issue because the math has already settled those points! That's what drives me up the wall about those comments more than anything else. It's the thought of people who could have some valuable knowledge they could apply but just won't because they're too darn lazy or negligent to look at simple measurements.
I should note that I don't deserve credit for the the pics I'm putting up. They were done by someone else (maybe Engineer or Deino) a lot earlier on this forum. If you search "J-20 Satellite" in google though they show up, so it's not really taking up much of my time to find and post them. It's nice that there's now quick answers to these size inquiries that don't depend on writing paragraphs of explanation on what an appropriate reference object is for measurement.

Now I simply ignore people on the internet who repeatedly avoid common sense and don't reply to points.
We've had a few on SDF before, thankfully most are gone.
The size of the J-20 constantly gets brought up in some other forums, and I've become known to get sucked into those debates quite frequently. Siege was giving some friendly feedback on the matter.
