Guys... I find that I really have to speak up (even if it mean to get me banned from this forum)...

I don't know why any of you keep wanting to reply to Mig-29 when all of you know full well that he will start another ranting and spinning and sending this thread further and further away from its previous intended purpose... whats with all the links and reference and finally the disclaimer than this is nothing but a forum and everyone had the right for their own opinions and things like that.

I am beginning to wonder if any of you are finding it pretty amusing to read comments by this member and his/her retorts and final disclaimers or was it fun to just reply then dig for the mistake he/she made in his/her post? I kinda find the old sinodefence forum a better place to be before all these nonsense start coming in :(

I have to say I agree with you Rhino.. while MiG does have his fair set of flaws I think he is also unnecessarily picked on much of the time. I too have notice a slight degradation in the quality of postings in recent months. Not so much because of OT stuff (because that's 'normal') but rather more trivial and unnecessary attacks and personal 'chastisements' of members (by fellow members NOT mods) over seemingly small arguments.

Hey, at least the CG shows the side missile can be possibly ejected first before the burn, which may be a better option than a burn without being ejected first.

I am not aware of any IRAAMs that are launched via dropping. All dogfighting missiles are rail launched, and for good reason.

When you drop a missile, you are relying on gravity for safe separation, so that pretty much dictates the fighter can not perform any violent manoeuvres during launch as well as massively restrict the potions the fighter can launch. Imagine, if you will, what would happen to a drop launched missile if the carrying fighter is launching during a hard turn.

If the fighter was pulling positive Gs during the turn, the second or so between separations and engine ignition could easily mean the missile looses the lock before it can move under its own power.

If the fighter was pulling negative Gs, it may well fly into its own missile.

I'm sure the J-20 launches via rails. Me thinks we're taking this animation waaay to seriously.
