I can safely say the pictures which show the engine are all J-15T, not J-15B.

Not necessarily, this was I believe published a few months ago and the new design of formation lights and wingtip pylon indicates that it’s most likely a J-15B.

I was under the impression China has exhausted its supply of AL-31 years ago. Was there an order recently?

China didn't import a single Russian engine since 2019. maybe they have some spare engines in store. LAMO

AL-31 is now history in China. WS-10 latest variants are better than any of AL-31 variant.

Except on J15.
I have an impression that shilao said WE-10 is not as responsive as AL-31F (difference is minimal, but still critical on carrier landing phase), and thus J15 decided to equip AL-31F.
Has this changed?

AL-31F was never meant for naval operations. early J-15 variant struggled a lot due to poor engine performance in sea operations. as far as i know, J-15 CATABOR variant equipped with WS-10B engine. i will confirm this news with my source

J-15S is designed for a very specific purpose, as a naval twin seater trainer for carrier landing. However it is too costly so J-15S production was halted and replaced by navalised JL-9 (which actually can't land on carrier, just on land-based simulation facility). One J-15S costs as much as 10 or more JL-9s.
So these 2 J-15S might be the only J-15S built. However, the catopult version J-15D is another story.

Oh, really? You mean same AL-31F which is used on Russian carrier fighter Su-33?

BTW, which modern jet engine has been specifically designed for naval use?
