Oh, really? You mean same AL-31F which is used on Russian carrier fighter Su-33?

BTW, which modern jet engine has been specifically designed for naval use?
how many SU-33 produced ?

i never said, we can't use AL-31F engine for naval operations. but J-15 really struggled with this engine.

Official number is 35. Perhaps J15 struggled due to teething problems with adequate maintenance in naval environment?

This is new... Panel gaps around the nose and the cockpit appear to have white sealant/paint applied to them.

Beautiful bird, the encapsulation craft looks good right there. It is admirable that such complex technology of the world's most outstanding carrier-based heavy fighter has been absorbed and perfected by SAC from scratch in such a short period....damn

China didn't import a single Russian engine since 2019. maybe they have some spare engines in store. LAMO

AL-31 is now history in China. WS-10 latest variants are better than any of AL-31 variant.

I think China took delivery of some D-30KP2 engines from Russia in 2020.

China has designed and manufactured a more powerful engine for its new fleet to maximise the potential carrying capacity of this fat lady,

You are right, but I'm talking about those early batches of Y20 (equipped with D30KP2) and imports of these engines in 2020.
While the later variants are testing with WS18 or even WS20, initial versions have to maintain an increasing fleet before new variants take over, and that's why there are still imports of D30KP2 even when it's clear WS20 is around the corner.
