Stories from naval aviator training division. Includes some rare photos.

From this, I am speculating that plane 30-35 are planes assigned to the training division. This would explain the odd number gap.

Possibly the J-15B (AKA "J-15T"), from the Weibo account of the venerable OneNinety:

Note the airbrake that is distinctive of the Flanker.
It is a flanker no doubt, but if it is a J15 variant then we are going to have a pleasant though not-unexpected surprise. Hint: the curvature angle of the upper fuselage behind the (unseen) cockpit.

What are you referring to? J-15TD?
It could not be a J16 or J16D since the development of these are already passed the validation stage by the Youth “Commando” team (青年突击队) aka Youth Validation Team.

It could not be a new variant of J11BS because it is unlikely to have a new two seater since J16 is here.

It is thus either a J15S or a J15D, likely to be J15D as this variant deserve a higher priority. They should be catapult capable.

He's referring to the image in post 4072 showing the blurred image of a Flanker under construction, not the image in post 4073, which is just an old image of J-15D.

As for what specific aircraft that is, I am not sure if we can tell what it is.
I note that we can see the nose landing gear in that image, but it seems to lack a visible catapult launch bar.
It's possible that it the launch bar just wasn't installed, or perhaps the blurriness means we can't see the launch bar (though the latter is a bit unlikely imo).

I also am not sure if it's definitely a J-15 variant, though I do think we can see a canard behind the flag, so it is more likely than not.

Either way it is a twin seat Flanker of some kind.

That leaves us with only a few options:
-J-16
-J-16D
-J-15S
-J-15D
-J-15D CATOBAR variant (without catapult bar installed yet)

The first option is very unlikely.
Obviously the last option would be the most "advanced" of them. However it's unlikely as well, because you'd expect the catapult launch bar to be present at this stage of construction. And the nose landing gear door is single piece rather than two piece as implied by previous J-15B blurry images.

I think the most likely answer is a non-CATOBAR twin seat J-15 variant, J-15S or J-15D, I'd lean to J-15D.
