Rafale is at least somewhat stealthy From the front quarter, almost certainly substantially more so than F-18, J-16/Su-33 and MiG-29.

The biggest Operational advantage the Chinese could have gained using primarily J-16/Su-33 is a potentially massive Unrefuelled range that practical truly stealthy carrier aircraft, or any Other existing carrier aircraft, will likely be unable to match. So I think strategically it is more important for the Chinese navy to deploy catobar carriers, AEW aircraft, integration with satellite and other reconnaissance platforms, with J-16 then it might first appear.

Also, if a navy deploys a mix of truly stealthy and unstealthy aircraft from carrier decks, then j-16/Su-33 would have another advantage which would only have been shared by the now defunct F-14. That is it is a very large aircraft able to accommodate a very large and powerful radar, far larger than f-18. Rafale and MiG-29 can handle. Collaboration between non-stealthy tactical aircraft with very powerful radar and all-aspect stealthy Aircraft is probably the way to go in the next 10-20 years.

I think you mean the J15 sir.

if China wants to succeed in carrier opps to needs to master night operations

as well as low EW operations

believe it or not a carrier strike group is a very large field of electronic signals which can be tracked

operating aircraft in low EW is also a challenge

J-15 isn't exactly the same as Su-33 though. It's developed from a Su-33 prototype that China acquired from Ukraine around the year 2000 or 2001. It's installed with Chinese avionics (more advanced than what the Russians had) and Chinese engines (reportedly WS-10A).

Operational J-15s are currently outfitted with Russian AL-31 engines so far because WS-10s are not reliable enough yet to work at sea. J-15 uses more composites in its construction, resulting in lighter weight by about 2 tons.

J-11BH of the PLAN, which is a land-based naval aircraft, is fitted with WS-10. They are good enough to work at sea. Just not on a ship borne aircraft yet.

Why Chinese media using that old illustration that resemble E-2 with PLA markings instead of the more accurate illustration below?

The fundamental airframe is essentially the same, The engine characteristics are essentially the same. and the models are similar in payload/range characteristics.

By all apparence, the Chinese J-15 now actually reflected less airframe and power plant characteristic improvements compared to the original Su-33 from 30 years ago than versions of many typical 4th generation fighters that came out 20-30 years after the original model shows compared to the original model. For example, the the J-15 is more similar to the su-33 than F-14D is to F-14A, and much more similar than the F-18E is to F-18A.
