I take that you believe the green paint are just primer, no different from the yellow? There must be a reason to use different shades of green, as green is not a favorite color for the Chinese either. Maybe I am wrong?
Yes, as others have pointed out the dark green is for composite skins, and the yellowish green is zinc-chromate, which inhibits corrosion. For what its worth, all the Cessna's manufactured in France, by Rhiems, were zinc chromated internally, to inhibit corrosion in the relatively moist environment of the European continent.
There is now a service bulletin to check for corrosion on Cessna 177 and Cessna 210 aircraft, after a 210 on pipeline patrol in Australia lost a wing, these are cantilever wing aircraft, and the "carry through spar" supports the wings without any external strut..
The loss of a wing was traced to failure of the center section/carry through spar due to pitting and cracking relating to ongoing corrosion and high time and high load factors...
the carry through spar on Dan's C-177 had some "snow flaking" which cleaned up nicely with a scotch bright pad, it is in fact in lovely condition for a 50 year old airframe....
In fact I gave Dan my last can of zinc-chromate for some clean-up and coating on the interior of his aircraft under the rear window internally where there was some light corrosion due to condensation....
