J-15 carrier fighter thread

Not long ago, naysayers claimed China doesn't have the technology to do buddy refueling. Guess what? Naysayers are proven wrong, again.

There was already a picture of a J-15 with a refueling pod back in Dec/2013-Jan/2014 on the CDF Blog (I think it was one of those Russian ones, or a derivative).

People were still desperately claiming it was simply a mockup or a doctored image, just like they were regarding the J-20 before videos of it appeared.

Nice photo^^.. :) Very clear and well defined.

Looks like the weapons stations on the wings have been modified to carry fuel tanks. Excellent. If anyone has access to a hi-res picture of this aircraft please post it. Thanks.

Good question, and these girls are all such "sweeties", my goodness, its like a beauty contest, and as much as I love Sukhoi, and the Russian Flankers with their OVT, I would bet the Shenyang birds have a much higher quality of fit and finish, they just look so "pristine", and to say I love the J-15 would be an understatement, what a pretty,,pretty airplane, even in primer, they are just gorgeous, lots of airplanes have "pretty" paint jobs, very few airplanes are just beautiful in their aerodynamic purity, the Flanker is in the latter category, like some of the truly classic beauties of the past, they look good with-out their fancy make-up.

The PLA always takes excellent care of it's equipment. Their ships and aircraft are some of the most well taken care of I've ever seen.

Thanks by78..that buddy store looks very aerodynamic. Much more so than any I've seen in recent years. Great job by the PLA.

To be fair, it looks like a copy of the Russian UPAZ series of buddy pods, or it may even by a purchased one.

why would those be pylons equipped for external fuel tanks? what part of the image is proof of that? It would certainly be quite a reveal if those j15 were indeed replumbed so they can use drop tanks.

On another note, what are those protrusions on the outer sides of intakes/engines?

I believe those rectangle box objects on the wing pylons are for external fuel tanks. Why the wing stations? So the J-15 tanker may re-fuel multiple aircraft.

Just my opinion.
