... at least from Batch 02 on they are capable to use the YJ-83K AShMs.

Not necessarily.

The wiring depends on what types of information, how much information, the power requirements, etc., etc....and the software and data requirements and speed.

Some weapons require completely different wiring harnesses and bundles depending on their needs.

I am sure the PLAN put as much into it as they thought they might need so that they could do what you propose.

But did they think at the time to wire it for all of the various possibilities? Who knows?

One thing is certain...if they do need to add more, they will find a way to do so by either adding more, or taking out what is there if they have to and making what they put their more robust if necessary,
It is mainly an air sup. fighter for défends the fleet as Su-33... still more versatile but would be curious he have only free fall bombs :)

And allow me they are far to have unlimited means the military bugdet with several reports very clear and confirmed by force structure size demonstrates this,
Navy ramp up yes ofc we see...
AF stable by ex the 7 Q-5 Rgts not replaced one by one by J-16
Army 5 on 18 Army Groups stand down some Brigades transfered to 13 existing now in fact i can be right now very exact but number of combattants units decrease of about 20 % same for materials as AF less replaced better by new but less...
Rocket Force several new Brigades since severals yeas as Navy about

To consider also they start from far with a lot of very rustic outdated weapons only 10 - 15 years ago with again by ex a lot of J-7 first J-8, Q-5 and Type 59 in service by example

LGBs need a targeting pod or a ground-based target designator, but GPS bombs just need a rack to hang from. Same thing for ARMs. All three need the appropriate software interface between weapon and pilot. This is the part that we don't know if the J15 has. Even if the J-15s don't have it, probably the J-15As will given their likely expanded roles as part of a CATOBAR air wing.

Yeah, makes sense.

Yeah, makes sense.

Only if the bombing targets are all geolocated before hand and predesignated for the bomb, and the plane acts purely as dumb bomb truck. If the plane has any capability to assign or switch targets for the GPS bombs in battle conditions while in flight, it would still need a laser range finder to ascertain the target’s relative position to the plane’s own gps coordinates, and an interface to feed the target coordinates to the bomb.

I remember seeing yellow J-15 prototypes carrying YJ-83Ks (possibly mock ups) aboard Liaoning during early test trials.

I would be surprised if all the current J-15s were not able to carry AShMs and/or KD-88 YJ-83KH equivalent.

Yes, but a prototype could probably updated in order to accomplish these tests and even if I agree with You, so far all J-15s seen with the YJ-83 were only Batch 02 (maybe coincidence?).

It is really détails make again more sense sense than PGMs i have mentioned all J-15s are armed with anti-ships missiles.

Coz anti-ship attack is a mission especialy for the Liaoning or consorts again more important than A2G attacks they have different missions, capacities than Westerns carriers.

It is also a matters of power i have a very good, fine ! french blogger wich have posted about anti-ship attack power in fact salvoes size a ship can lauch up to 8 -16 missiles a carrier have much more salvoes disponible very difficult to know very rare infos but carriers have in general dépends classes 20 - 50 anti-ships missiles in magazine possible varied weapons loads etc.. i can't be exact ofc but added to fighter range the carrier is the more powerful anti-ships weapon.

I found, a bit late, this article from February this year:

It says that using carriers for strikes against ground targets only happened during WWII on any scale during the last months - after the Japanese air force and navy air force were defeated. Otherwise the main purposes of carriers are fleet air defence, defence against submarines and attacks on an enemy fleet. Because USN has mostly been acting against countries with limited air defence strikes against ground targets has become a major occupation and during the last quarter of a century the original purposes have nearly been forgotten. USN will need to relearn these old purposes.

Clearly these old purposes will be the main, perhaps the only, ones to be trained for by the PLAN carriers and J-15 will need to be able to carry the relevant weapons.

Yes, but still, it's dumb to have aircraft carrier full of aircrafts that can't attack land targets with precision-guided weapons...
