Right This question of J 15 load has been repeated ad nauseum. Early in the Liaoning test they show J 15 with dummy load of 2 X YJ83 and 2XPL12 I posted that picture to the question from popeye
That is load of approximately 2500 kg That is plenty I have no doubt they can add 2 more PL8 with no problem
It is buried somewhere in either this thread or Laioning thread
4x ASCMs on a J-15 fitted for a strike role should be neither unusual nor difficult to achieve during wartime, with either a ski jump or with a cat. In fact I would think that 4 ASCMs should be considered the default loadout during actual combat for maximum efficiency. 4x YJ-83s, 2x PL-12s, 2x PL-8s, and 1 650L drop tank are easily achievable for a J-15 off either CV-16 or CV-17. Add in ~50kg per pylon and ~100kg for the empty drop tank weight and that comes to just over 5 tons of ordinance and fuel, hardly anywhere near the max loadout of a J-15.

J15 load is not the question if J15 can't lift then which aircraft can ?

Question is this, can CV-16 do sustained around the clock day / night flight operations for continued presence over sea territory away from home ?

Answer is we don't know, better answer is they are getting there and working on it

Carry a load of a ski jump is no biggie in naval aviation

Doing carrier operations is

Essentially you have a moving 3D airspace with a moving airport this is a VERY complicated game

China needs to get aggressive with carrier oops excercise excercise excercise

Then when real missiles start flying it's second nature

It's like a atheletes stamina the minute he stops training his stamina goes doesn't matter how good he was

The J-15's load actually is still the question, since this clearly hasn't been answered to some people's satisfaction yet; let's just say there are still people behind the curve on this issue. Whether a J-15 can/should carry a full loadout during wartime including 4 ASCMs and whether a J-15 can lift a full load with ski ramps are questions that should be well and settled by now (in the affirmative), but they clearly aren't.

IMO the issue with sustained operations for China carrier is the number of J-15's carried. The J-15 is a large plane for carrier of its size and the number of planes will be a limiting factor in extended, sustained operations.

Is that really so? I don't see any likely scenario where China and the US make war on each other, so the J-15s wouldn't have to face more capable USN aircraft in extended naval battles.
