That video looks like a tribute to this kid's life as a pilot for the PRC. I wish I could understand the words, but the imagery is pretty enthralling. Clearly, he dedicate his adult life to flight.

I am wondering if the footage of the ejection is from his mishap? right after tht they showed (again) the pictures of his tribute, a ceremony mourning his loss, and one with some officers hugging what looks like his family.

I am going to put together some of the stills from the film.

My work place blocks YouTube, so i can't confirm, but i doubt the eject footage is from his mishap. I do think the show interviewed his commanding officer and he said the pilot's first reaction was pushing the control stick down, which wasted a few precious seconds that would have allowed him to eject safely

qwell, there are two sequences.

One, of the canopy blowing off and then a pilot ejection apears to be tock footage.

But then there is another of a pilot who has already ejected amidst some debris and it does not look like it is going very well. That's the part I am talking about.

Does anyone know this Pilot's name?

Are those WS-10s I see? If so, this aircraft represents not just Chinese catapult viability but also maritime jet engine maturity.

It also appears to be prototype '5' so can we assume there are four other prototypes undergoing testing?

Also curious whether the radome hosts a J-16-esque AESA radar or if they kept the J-11B radar.

Edit: On further inspection, the pitot tube makes me think this is only the J-11B's radar. The J-16's AESA does not have pitot tubes IIRC.
