It seems that the J-15B may adopt an airframe that's almost entirely made out of composites along with a new iteration of the J-16.

T700/T800 composite material is in full scale production and widely using in all high tech industries so you can imagine the cost of composite material in mainland.. so AVIC switching to composite material on large scale was expected..

BYD rolled out first supercar U9 using T700 composite carbon fiber yesterday.

COMAC build first composite wing of C919 used T800 composite carbon..

Guangwei Composite Materials Co., Ltd started China's biggest carbon fiber project in Baotou City, inner Mongolia.. which will produce T700/T800/T1000 composite material..

In 2022, the first phase will reach a production capacity of 4,000 tons, the second phase will reach a production capacity of 6,000 tons , and the total production capacity will reach 10,000 tons. Part of the production capacity will be reserved for the third phase, and the total production capacity of the project is expected to reach 20,000 tons ..

that was the original plan but project delayed and started in late 2023..

Swear I saw a photo exactly like that with the engine smoke but the J-15 was on the ground.

Anyhow, hope the 15Bs come with WS-10s.

When switching between afterburner and non-afterburner. Excess fuel is channeled to the engine for the former and during the transition some of it is not properly consumed, turning into smoke instead.
