I will believe it when I see it in BAF colours inside the country.

I have been seeing the buying J-10 rumours since 2011.

Edit-In High school, I had a J-10 photoshopped with a BAF roundel as my twitter profile pic, that's how embarassing the J-10 saga has been for me. The Airforce kept dicking around for years, after the first J-10 rumours, until they finally did buy some new Chinese birds...... another batch of J-7s......... I have literal PTSD. If news later comes out that Chengdu reopened their F-7 production line so that Bangladesh can buy 16 more F-7BGTVXII, remember you heard it here first.

Bangladesh has much higher GDP than Pakistan. They should be procuring more numbers of advanced jets, AD and other systems. But somehow their military spending is extremely low to non-existant.

GDP is a misleading figure. While our GDP might be higher than Pakistan's, our military infrastructure and technological know how is world's apart.

You cannot buy your way into a formidable military. It takes decades of build up and national will to beef up a military.

Also our miitary is not and should not be a priority. We are still poor and our economy is almost one product based only. Our spending priority is now on infrastructure and human capital development. With that being said, our air force procurement has been pathetic for years now. If we do get the J-10C, and i hope we do, it will be an investment that should have been made years ago.

@Deino this news is in TBS which is actually a very reputed newspaper in bangladesh, so this is going to happen for real. i know we should be skeptical but this is actually happening. @T.C.P youre mostly right but sovereignty comes first.

Unless someone requests it for export there is no chance of it happening.

I would say there is no chance of it happening at this stage even if someone was willing to pay for development. CAC has just way too much on its hands right now in terms of projects to waste time on such a side project that has zero prospects of a major order.

Dedicated EW versions of fighters are exceptionally rare even for major air forces domestic fleets, with only America and China having proper domestic designs and only Australia somehow being an operator as well.

America and China needs them to be on the same playing field against each other. But for everyone else, not having a dedicated EW variant is the default position, so it’s hardly a handicap for the J10 to not have it. Given the size and power limitations, the J10D might be very difficult to develop and not be as effective.
