To admit,You both are wrong IMO ... No. 1004 as the forth J-10 and 1003 the third - actually even the second flying after 01 = 1001 - and as such they are comparable to the very first batch of '200x'-series J-20s.
Similar to the J-20 program the 101x-eries were the revised prototypes or pre-serials.
And You are correct, they were never assigned to an operational unit, however as far as I know they were all retired long long ago.

How come we never see the seeker on those?
In this photo, the blue ones should be training dummies with real seekers (and the seeker is quite visible in that picture), the white ones should be weight representative dummies only (no seeker).
Considering most of the high quality photos of PL-10 we've had are from CAC, which is not a missile test range, it should be no surprise that we haven't seen any real missiles (i.e.: with seekers) carried from planes flying from there.
If we were able to stake out Dingxin I suspect it would be a completely different story.
Guess we need to get insider wallclimbers.
Not really... I mean there was never a reason to be concerned at the lack of seekers on previous photos of PL-10.
If anything I'd be a little concerned if we got photos like that so early, as it may suggest the PLAs opsec may have been compromised.
I thought we saw J-10C being mass produced with the WS-10B a few months ago. Now we are seeing new planes with the AL-31FN III. What is going on here ? How many of these Russian engines does China still have in stock and what is going on with the WS-10B ? I haven't heard about any new orders for the AL-31FN III.

It is a new photo of the J-10B, but not necessarily of a new plane. It is already in PLAAF paint, so it could be one of the existing/old batch J-10B's testing PL-10...
