They refitted the 4th production J-10 with WS-10? Is this a new development or has this been for some time?
Those were LRIP birds that were used primarily for testing. They were never assigned to an operational fighter unit afaik, and are still at the CFTC.

How come we never see the seeker on those?
In this photo, the blue ones should be training dummies with real seekers (and the seeker is quite visible in that picture), the white ones should be weight representative dummies only (no seeker).
Considering most of the high quality photos of PL-10 we've had are from CAC, which is not a missile test range, it should be no surprise that we haven't seen any real missiles (i.e.: with seekers) carried from planes flying from there.
If we were able to stake out Dingxin I suspect it would be a completely different story.

I thought we saw J-10C being mass produced with the WS-10B a few months ago. Now we are seeing new planes with the AL-31FN III. What is going on here ? How many of these Russian engines does China still have in stock and what is going on with the WS-10B ? I haven't heard about any new orders for the AL-31FN III.
