It's quite normal in socialist countries to have defense institute also make consumer goods isn't it? Chelomei bureau also made fridges, real ones not the sexy one from Atomic Heart.
Well sure I know that much but that doesn’t answer my question. Wtf did I just watch.

It wasn't a smooth transition from j-9 to 10. They were more like competing programs near the end of j9. I was told j9 was considered unsatisfactory, so new specs were drawn up and j10 was started to see if they could come up with something better. A lot of the j9 people got absorbed into the j10 program after j9 got canned. But before then there were only a very small team of people working on j10. No docs to share, all hearsay from the uncles/aunts.
There's load of bull waiting to be refuted. J9 was cut due to lack of budget. J10 is definitely based on J9 by design.

I understand that the final product of course is, but isn’t his point they had not decided for sure if they where going to continue with the J-9 configuration from the very beginning.

J10 also got no budget in the beginning. You think 5 old engineers working on a plane cost money? Budget comes when it can be proven to work. J9 couldn't meet design requirements, so never gets the budget it wants.

How likely do y'all think it would be for a J-10 to make it into something like DCS, I'm talking J-10A, B, CE. Probably very unlikely but still want others thoughts who know more.
