How did the (T)SFC evolve for each iteration or the WS-10 engine? Did it stay constant or did it go down?

Why is Patch given this much benefit of the doubt? When has he actually came close to proving his knowledge and background? Yeah I get that he's offered "insights" that pretty much agree with information that went from being speculated to leaked, verified by reputable individuals/groups, and then verified by one or both governments (US and China) eventually in public domain papers but anyone learned enough in this stuff can do that if they wished to be misleading about their credentials/background.

Honestly I think, take that all as you will but bringing Patch up as gospel is a bit silly.

It's not just insights

Patchwork literally has essays worth of material on various topics, which go down to a very high level of detail and analysis on the US/Chinese systems

So at a minimum, I would say he does this full time

But ... I know this guy only from a few very kind exchanges via Twitter but otherwise his post-history is clean? Where does he discuss his materials?

https://www.reddit.com/r/LessCredibleDefence/comments/vs924o/_/ifkl4dy Another post, he is the deleted account.
Even if each individual content by itself might not be classified there is no way to find and compile all that information and how it relates to each other working in the OSINT sphere. There is no doubt he is an Department of Defense analyst but his posts will be read by Chinese intelligence so we don't know how that affect what he post or if misinformation is sprinkled in.

Okay this particular post (part 2 of 2) does seem to indicate a further depth of US military operational knowledge than your typical grunt "expert" like the USAF and USN guys on youtube.

According to the staff's answer, the thrust of the latest model of WS-10 has reached 14000kg in 2014.

I assume this is the

. The article itself is of suspect quality, given what we know.

Reporter: what does it mean by "12000kgf to 14000kgf"?

Lao Dong: It means Taihang (i.e. WS-10) has several variants, with the highest-performing variant having achieved 14000kgf of thrust. (Su-35's engines have thrust of 14500kgf).

Reporter: Does this mean WS-10 is now on par with Su-35's engines?

Lao Dong: Yes, and we're continuing to further refine and develop the WS-10, just as we have been doing in the past several years. This is the newest WS-10 variant, and the design has been finalized/frozen.

Reporter: Has it entered mass production?

Lao Dong: It has already been equipped in large numbers on the J-10B, J-11B, and Y-20.

The reporter either was deliberately misleading readers or he memory was faulty. I highly doubt the interviewee had said Y-20 was equipped with WS-10, which cannot possible be true, not to mention the Y-20 was still under development back in 2014. Assuming the interview did take place, what I think was happening was that the reporter got the variants confused. There might have been several models of WS-10 variants on display, along with perhaps a model of WS-20, and the reporter mis-attributed what's said about one variant to another. I think it's quite possible the 14000kgf variant has yet to enter production at the time of the interview.
