J-10 Thread IV

It's not a joke. According to Yankeesama North Korean pilots have been training in China for some time. They do have difficulties flying high Gs though.
A little OT, but do you have any more info or a source on NK pilots struggling with high Gs? Seems odd!

It is in Shi Lao’s podcast. It isn’t that surprising since some PLAAF pilots had trouble at first adjusting to J-10 when they switched over from J-7, even with G-suits. You have to sustain high G for much longer in 4th generation fighter aircraft than 2nd and 3rd gen. In fact, improper G-force training was speculated to be one of the causes of the F-16V crash. The pilot spent most of his career flying the F-5.

Thanks, do you happen to have a link?

Not the latest prototype that flew... it was one ugly fat bird.

Unless a J-10D is just incremental upgrades to J-10C or just a future avionics refresher, seems like a waste of resources to invest any further into the J-10 platform. By 2035 fully autonomous aircraft should be taking over the role of short range / lightweight fighters.

LOL. I do prefer the slimmer second prototype (B) more. However, the latest (C) is still MUCH nicer looking than the F-35. Don't you agree that even if you prefer a size B, upgrading to a fuller upper-bodied C size has its benefits too? I am thinking longer range of course.

More seriously, a semi-stealth KFX-like plane has an export market and allows China to maintain a larger peacetime ORBAT and industrial/talent base at low costs so real money can be spent on more high-end toys. Most countries cannot afford twin-engined planes and why give away market to Korea or Turkey? That is not a Chinese/Yiwu thing to do. I hope they are aiming for a half-generation more advanced KF-21. I do think having a J-10D prototype/first flight in 2022 is too soon though (2024 LRIP, 2026 IOC, and 2028 first brigade/regiment?).

I whole-heartedly agree and cannot see much usefulness of a short-legged light fighter for major/regional powers and I am sure China has been pitting multiple AI engines in simulated air combats 24/7 to hone their skills (like Amazon's DeepRacer API). Ditto for testing a StarLink-like LEO constellation MESH network for datalinking such swarms.

Pictures released by local media showed that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan attended the ceremony and sat in the cockpit of the J-10CE to get close contact with the new fighter jet. The J-10CE is an all-weather, single-engine, single-seat, multi-role fighter jet independently developed by @Aviation Industry. (Headquarters reporter Cui Ru)
